A motorised curtain rail is a real help on tall, wide or hard-to-reach windows. Modern motors run almost silently (under 38 dB — quieter than a whisper), can pull curtains weighing up to 35 kg over a length of up to 10 m, and — besides a remote — can be controlled from a smartphone app, by timer, and on some models even by voice through popular smart speakers. Battery-powered versions are also available, with no need for a power socket near the window.
